King Winter came early this year, one evening he scattered a layer of snow quiet and resolute over the landscape. The King knocked caution, embraced me, and I stretched out my arms to receive King Winter's first kiss while his wind caressed my hair. We were in the very beginning of our love affair.

In the coming months King Winter dominates much of my life. We will have a passionate and strong relationship marked by happiness, anger and grief

I will feel Happiness because King Winter creates so many beautiful sculptures in the landscape, Joy because King Winter allows me generously to ski through his white powdered cape and feel a buzzing happiness of life. Devotion when King Winter is tenderly tickling my face cautious with his snowflakes.

I will be jealous when King Winter is not present and leaves the landscape desolate and lifeless. I will feel the anger when he sends furious snowstorms or an unstopable scatter of snow. Frenzy when he evilly sentences me with a biting cold that is ruining my plans.

The sadness comes when King Winter is getting old, he becomes weaker and weaker until he finally has to give way for the spring. Then I feel the sorrow because I know this King Winter never comes back.

No King Winter is the same. Some are generous, others are angry and evil, while some are gentle and tolerant - every winter a new King is coming.

How King Winter will be this year I can only tell when he has cried his last tears and his white cape is gone.

When everyone else sells shares in panic, the Norwegian government is purchasing. Since the global financial crisis went into earnest eight weeks ago, the state's two pension funds bought shares of companies on the Oslo Stock Exchange for over 12 billion kroner (1.8 billion USD).

Last week, the government bought 7 million shares through the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, in the Norwegian oil company Statoil-Hydro for 850 million kroner (124 million USD). The acquisition comes on top of a large number of trades on declining stock prices. Since September 1, the government has bought 59 million shares in the company, to over 7.7 billion kroner (1.1 billion USD).

"It's reassuring for the tax payers that the government buys shares for several reasons in the falling stock markets. Purchases have come in small portions, and it appears that they have a very good average," said a Statoil-Hydro analyst.

In February, Parliament gave the Department of Petroleum and Energy, authority to increase the state's share in Statoil-Hydro from 62.5 to 67 percent. The stock acquisition is financed with funds from the Government's Pension Fund Global. Including last week's buying, the government's ownership interest is now 65.22 percent, the highest proportion since the merger of Statoil and Hydro was concluded.

The Government's Pension Fund Norway, which is managed by the National Fund, has also used the past week's powerful stock market fall, to dramatically increase their share in other Norwegian companies.

The shareholder lists show that the Social Fund will have now have increased their holdings, from net purchased shares, totaling 4 billion kroner (580 million USD) in selected companies in the past eight weeks. At year-end the market value of the Fund's holdings in these companies was 53 billion kroner (7.7 billion USD).

A few years ago, Mira Craig was a relatively unknown musician who was working hard for a break.

Although very talented and skilled, Mira realized that many other musicians were as well. So Mira doubled down and worked stridently using her live performances and mini-tours to showcase her talent and to secure her place in the spotlight.

During a concert at the Oslo Spectrum in 2005 everything changed
.

The venue was larger than what she was used to and quite a step up for Mira. Because there was also a large media and press contingent present, she wanted to make her mark then and there to stand out from the rest of the crowd.

This turned out to be her lucky break in more ways than one.

At the end of her set she decided to take a stage dive, which means that she literally jumps off the stage and into the audience, who then are supposed to catch her. Obviously the latter is an important condition for this to succeed.

This small but important detail was missing when she jumped into what she thought was a crowd but instead Mira had a brutal meeting with the floor. The result was a broken leg.

A sad story but true tale of an ambitious artist, you would think.

Perhaps, but it has a happy beginning because of what happened afterward. The episode was undeniably funny, she became a media sensation and Mira Craig instantly became famous and an overnight success in Norway.

From doghouse to penthouse, the public couldn't get enough of her. She appeared in numerous concerts, TV shows, and promoters fought to retain Mira.

Because of that incident, she was able to accomplish what most musicians can only dream of: to use their creativity, to be in demand, make money at what they love doing, have a loyal fan and customer base, and, in Mira's case, to be able to perform at shows frequently.

Since then, everything has gone her way and in 2008, she was voted the sexiest woman in Norway.

So my wish for all the starving artists around the world: Break a leg ...

The headline is an excerpt of the song “Dear Mr. President” sung by Pink. This is one of my favorite songs because it has a beautiful melody, meaningful lyrics and is simple and beautifully performed by Pink. Dear Mr. President has a political message that starts with inviting the President out for walk to ask him some questions.

The questions asked are many; how he can live with mothers who are unable say goodbye to their children dying on the battlefield, how he feel about all the homeless living on the streets, who he prays for when he goes to sleep at night, children left behind and several more intricate questions. The song manages to capture the important political issues in just a few sentences. Dear Mr President is a song every politician should listen to because it has a strong and clear message.

With elections coming up in the USA and many other countries we should ask ourselves and the Politicians these questions and demand some answers before we vote.

In the video below you'll see Pink perform Dear Mr. President Live in Wembley, from "I’m not dead" tour DVD released in April 2007. A bit further down you’ll find a transcript of the lyrics.

Some songs are more important than others - this is one of them, please listen to it.

Pink: Dear Mr president
Featuring: Indigo Girls Lyrics
Songwriters: Mann, Billy; Moore, Alecia B

Dear Mr. President,
Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President,
Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
How can you say
No child is left behind?
We're not dumb and we're not blind.
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell.

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?

Before you consider investing in any type of market, you should really take a long hard look at your current situation. Investing in the future is a good thing, but clearing up bad – or potentially bad – situations in the present is more important.

Pull your credit report. You should do this once each year. It is important to know what is on your report, and to clear up any negative items on your credit report as soon as possible. If you’ve set aside $25,000 to invest, but you have $25,000 worth of bad credit, you are better off cleaning up the credit first!

Next, look at what you are paying out each month, and get rid of expenses that are not necessary. For instance, high interest credit cards are not necessary. Pay them off and get rid of them. If you have high interest outstanding loans, pay them off as well.

If nothing else, exchange the high interest credit card for one with lower interest and refinance high interest loans with loans that are lower interest. You may have to use some of your investment funds to take care of these matters, but in the long run, you will see that this is the wisest course of action.

Get yourself into good financial shape – and then enhance your financial situation with sound investments.

It doesn’t make sense to start investing funds if your bank balance is always running low or if you are struggling to pay your monthly bills. Your investment dollars will be better spent to rectify adverse financial issues that affect you each day.

While you are in the process of clearing up your present financial situation, make it a point to educate yourself about the various types of investments.

This way, when you are in a financially sound situation, you will be armed with the knowledge that you need to make equally sound investments in your future.

A great way to save money is to be aware of the fact that one has the power to define the state of his finances specifically through a conscious effort of disciplining the way one spends and controlling one's expenditures.

Self-discipline will most definitely be the key to reducing one's debts therefore increasing the possibility of growing one's savings. And in the long run, improve one's standard of living.

According to money management book author Robert Hastings, "Undisciplined money, usually spells undisciplined person". Therefore, if one notices how his hard-earned money seems to slip away so darned easy, then it is about time that he rethinks his ways and try to discipline his unpleasant spending habits.

One of the essential keys to successful money management, specifically saving money is to possess proper attitude. Self-discipline is at the topmost of this proper attitudes list, of course.

Only with self-discipline that people recognize that they do have the freedom and power to do the right thing over doing as their impulses dictate.

Sounds complicated? Well, not really. Knowing fully the fantastic rewards of disciplined money in a disciplined person's hands should be motivation enough for one to do all that is humanly possible to achieve that elusive financial stability everyone hopes for.

Here are some helpful money saving tips.

Realize that the most convenient method of building one's wealth is through saving money. Money is the only sensible material to save.

Focus expenditures on the things one needs. Live day-by-day knowing that you have enough.

Avoid buying on impulse. Take your time when buying, especially the expensive items. If you really need it, it would most definitely not slip your mind. Otherwise, if you go along forgetting all about it, then it isn't really worth the money you have to spend on it at all.

Credit card debts hold the number one slot as the cause for financial drains these days. Control your spending by using your credit cards less. Or for unavoidable circumstances when you really have to use the credit card, consider using the ones that charge less interest. Then dump the high interest ones for good.
No matter how you look at it, saving money is so easy to do. A little bit of imagination, some creativity and a lot of self-discipline will take you a long way in keeping hold of your hard-earned money.

I am about to move in to my new home on the web. Wished to create my own personal blog for a long time and finally I am about to realize it. Netsnacks is a blog about a many different things and the content will reflect my interests and what I am concerned about for the time being.

By nature I am a talkative person who has a lot to say. Fortunately is my network of friends and family a like, people with different interests and strong views. Discussions are usually lively when we meet and debate politics, economy, relationships, travel and leisure activities.

On the Internet I am an avid forum participant and simply love Social network sites. There are many knowledgeable and fun people on the Internet, so I have a tendency to spend much time posting or comment on others' posts. Internet fascinates me because you meet people from all over the World, and it is interesting to notice that we really are not that different. Most of us are concerned and worried over the same things.

This is what Netsnacks will deal with, people and the world around us. You are of course invited to visit me as often as you like and when you want. I will be very pleased if you take the time to comment or to write your own blog posts.

There are still a few things left before my Netsnacks home is ready to live in. However you know how it is; it’s always easier to refurbish when there is someone around you to task with.

Thanks for stopping by, please come back soon.
